What the label says:

Controversial?  A contradiction in terms.  Is there such a thing as black Indian Pale Ale?  Black as stout, close your eyes and taste and this beer is classic Indian Pale Ale.  Powerful hops dominate the restrained chocolate and coffee notes from our carefully selected roasted malts.

What the Beerdrinker says:

This beer looks nothing like a Pale Ale.  It’s dark, with a thick creamy head.  The nose is very sweet and honeyed with coffee undertones.  The beer is creamy and smooth with a milk stout like texture.  It tastes distinctly like a stout but with a real bitter hop finish.  There’s a strong chocolate and roast coffee flavour.  This beer gives a real indication of its strength.  A really good, if odd beer.
