What the label says:

Trooper Red ‘N’ Black Porter is the first dark beer brewed in the trooper ranks and a modern take on a recipe sating back centuries.  The Red ‘N’ Black colour comes from a blend of chocolate and crystal malt which gives this full bodied beer a roasted malt and caramel backbone.  A Robinsons’ yeast provides hints of both licorice and honey character to create a delicious warming brew.

Designed yet again by Iron Maiden vocalist and ale afficionado Bruce Dickinson and the head brewer at Robinsons’ brewery, Red ‘N’ Black takes its inspiration from a Robinsons’ original recipe from the 1850s at a time when porter style beer was becoming increasingly popular in Britain.

What the Beerdrinker says:

A real chocolate brown beer, but with a poor head.  The nose is pure treacle and sweetness.  The overall taste is of treacle, with chocolate hints at the front of the mouth and a strong bitterness.  It is a really thick, sticky drink.
