What the label says:

William McEwan first opened his brewery in 1856.  He would be proud to know that we have spent every year since then perfecting our recipes using only the finest quality ingredients.  Champion Ale is the highlight in the McEwan’s range.  It possesses a rich strong flavour with a uniquely sweet and fruity character.  Its distinctly smooth finish makes it the ultimate Scottish Ale.

What the Beerdrinker says:

This is a supremely dark beer with a thick white creamy head.  It has a smell of fresh toast.  Its taste is of black treacle and molasses and the liquid is very smooth.  There is a distinctly burnt flavour to this complex beer.  The strength of the beer makes it one to sip rather than to swig or gulp.  As you drink more of the pint it tastes sweeter.
